Sunflowers in Summer August 16th
Here are the gigantic sunflowers. The tallest one is about 10ft tall! I've never seen sunflowers this tall before. It must be from all the rain...They are taking there time in showing their petals. Everyones' sunflowers are showing their petals already except for mine. My Mom says all my sunflowers must be males because they don't have petals. I hope that's not true. Maybe they are just waiting until the last minute to show their petals. Anyways, you can see at least one is showing some.
The Goldfinches certainly are staking out the seeds. I seen one daintily perching on top of the sunflower today. It was cute.
Speaking of sightings I'd like to make a *note: seen a Wilson Warbler today in the thickets.

Autumn Asters
Let's just jump right into fall shall we?
These are Asters. This photo was taken on "a golf ball hunting walk" in the woods.
The leaves on the trees have been changing to these incredible shades of reds, burgundy's, oranges, yellow. The air is fresh. There are no bugs. And the Poison Ivy is dying off.
It's also time for harvesting the Herbs.
And planting the Tulips.
Those "Mysterious Annuals" were fabulous. They had to be dug up unfortunately as the Tulips had to be planted in their spot. To be sure though, a couple of hand fulls of seeds were salvaged. Maybe next year, if luck will have it, they'll be back.
At the same time there was wheel barrow loads of weeds and Cosmos taken out too.
The Sunflower seeds, opps i just changed the font by accident, are delicious.

Weeding And Planting in the Garden
Usually the Danger of Frost has passed by this date.
The radishes, lettuce and onions were planted at the beginning of May. They are fine for cooler spring weather planting.
Pumpkins, cucumbers, peas, sunflowers and corn should be planted this week.
The tomato and cherry tomato seedlings are planted now. They are started indoors as early as February.
