The Year of the Snake
For anyone wary of snakes - this picture is not for you. However this is a garden blog and I have avoided taking pictures of my snake. I am not a big fan of snakes. They always give me a start.
When this big snake slithered cross my path I jumped really high & randomly screamed out these words "AYE AYE AYE AYE" from an ol' favorite song.
This snake is a large mature garter snake. Common garter snakes control the population of insects and mollusk. They are common and a welcome sight to most gardeners. They also tame easily. I fully expect to see at least one snake in my season of gardening if not more. This particular snake is the largest garter I've seen yet. I may have seen one equally this big in 2006. The others I've seen are smaller.
So the snake has made it's debut. Just in good time too as it is the year of the snake in the Chinese calendar.
