No Robin(s) here yet. I was listening on the news tonight and they were commenting on how they seen their first Robin already and it's always exciting. Well, this must mean my Robin must be on his way then. There is still much snow on our lawn. It has melted considerably the last couple of days but there is still a lot of snow. The temperature has been warm, +5C. Yesterday morning I went out on the porch. High up at the top of a tree sat a Redwing Blackbird singing the delights of Spring. I am happy to see you!
They were good enough quality to us as a guide for its markings. There are so many different species of olive or yellow immatures without wing bars and with wing bars and tail spots. The Warblers songs too, are quite different which makes it easy to identify.
Here below is a Junco. They like to eat the seeds on the ground that have fallen out of the feeder.
